It started out as the voyage of the captain of a ship in a bottle, then got a little bit 'Samuel Taylor Coleridge drunk at a party'. I think he'd have liked this.
For once, an S. Wordsmith album ends in gently sailing into the sunset (or a cork, at least), rather than something getting eaten, swatted, loudly losing consciousness or having a piano fall on them during an argument. Thank you for staying around long enough to discover this.
lyrics
How strange, the world seen through a lens
The light fantastic as it bends
Around the titans far beyond
The walls of this unstirring pond
Who drift and glide with silent glee
Across the rim where sky meets sea
These ghosts and shadowed beasts that pass
Before the eye that sees through glass
Here on a voyage none can chart
Through East and West, through dark and light
As here and now approach and part
To pass as ships within the night
Their time in space now duly served
One moment here, another gone
The horizon line is curved, curved
Curved as a glass stretching ever on
Now set upon our steady course
And never yet in sight of land
Our minuscule and mighty force
Equipped with all we have at hand
To tear the sails and smash the hulls
Of any foe to come my way
But the skies ahead are clear, clear
Clear as glass for another day
And so, we journey ever on
Our pathway clear and set in stone
With shifting souls on every side
And yet we cross the seas alone
Beneath this great chaotic sky
The strokes of colour in the grey
But the seas ahead are calm, calm
Still as glass for another day
Before the eye that sees through glass
These ghosts and shadowed beasts that pass
Across the rim where sky meets sea
Who drift and glide with silent glee
The walls of this unstirring pond
Around the titans far beyond
The light fantastic as it bends
How strange, the world seen through a lens
